Mo Chara is the Northeast’s first destination pub run by three friends who have plenty of experience in the hospitality industry. Finding a home in a listed building, they needed a brand to match their ambitions.

What we did
Mo Chara is Dundalk’s first taproom and the three friends who opened it want to create a space of friendship and unity. The name, which means ‘my friend’ in Irish, symbolises the lads opening the pub – they’ve been friends since primary school. This formed the basis of the brand identity.
We represent this in graphic form with a pint-inspired take on the ancient Celtic triskelion symbol which brings the three friends represented with beers in hand. Mo Chara’s identity is itself a united harmony between illustration, typography and tactility; upholding the charm, impact and emotive resonance of physical brand applications.
The branding works across tactile touch points like the pub’s numerous hand-painted signs, murals and illustrations, as well as the high-end printing methods used across the taproom’s cards, coasters and aprons.
As an active and regular part of the team, KOR has been on site for the big launches, wee events, and everything in between. This has let us capture the craic and character of Mo Chara and the people behind it. Mo Chara have taken a social-first approach to their marketing and this content has helped them grow their Instagram to 12.6k followers.
